Optimization and evaluation of a live virus SARS-CoV-2 neutralization assay
In this assay, SARS-CoV-2 clinical isolates are pre-incubated with serial diluted antibody and added to Vero E6 cells. Replicating virus is quantitated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay targeting the SARS-CoV-2 nucleocapsid protein and the standardized 50% virus inhibition titer calculated. We evaluated critical test parameters that include virus titration, assay linearity, number of cells, viral dose, incubation period post-inoculation, and normalization methods. Neutralization titers modestly decreased with increasing numbers of Vero E6 cells and virus amount.

'Super' jab to fight off any coronavirus moves one step closer
Tests on mice suggested targeting the area in question, located on the virus's spike protein, can protect against the original Wuhan strain of SARS-CoV-2 as well as spin-off variants Alpha, Beta, Delta and Omicron. Mr Ng said: 'The S2 area of the spike protein is a promising target for a potential pan-coronavirus vaccine because this area is much more similar across different coronaviruses than the S1 area.

Researchers report on improved SARS-CoV-2 neutralization assay
-- Researchers at the University of Utah, University of Toronto, and other institutions have recently reported that they are developing a serological assay that measures the neutralization activity of anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies directly from convalescent or vaccinated sera. "Although assays to measure binding antibodies against SARS-CoV-2 are widely available, more specific tests measuring neutralization activities of antibodies are immediately needed to quantify the extent and duration of protection that results from infection or vaccination," the researchers wrote.

Scientists produced COVID-19 antibodies in hen eggs
Effective interventions for SARS-CoV-2 are urgently required to mitigate its effect. Scientists from the University of California, Davis, have produced antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in hen eggs. You can consume a lot of IgY because a hen produces roughly 300 eggs yearly. Hyperimmunized Chickens Produce Neutralizing Antibodies against SARS-CoV-2.

AI algorithm improves accuracy of at-home COVID-19 tests
In research published in the journal Nature, the Imperial College team collected photographs of the antibody test results of 500,000 people in the U.K. and designed an AI-based computer system to analyze the results. The researchers believe that the use of this AI-enabled computer system could provide a critically needed tool for analyzing COVID antibodies at the level of countrywide populations in surveys such as REACT-2.

How does hybrid immunity shape humoral immune response to SARS-CoV-2?
The lowered risk of breakthrough infections and diseases in those SARS-CoV-2-infected and vaccinated, also known as hybrid immunity, has been underlined by real-world CoV disease 2019 vaccine effectiveness.

Skin Patch Test Detects COVID-19 in Under Three Minutes
The details of the new test were published on July 1, 2022, in an article in the journal Scientific Reports titled, “ Anti‑SARS‑CoV‑2 IgM/IgG antibodies detection using a patch sensor containing porous microneedles and a paper‑based immunoassay.” Alternatively, COVID-19 infection is detected through antibody tests using blood samples collected from finger pricks by a lancing device. The patch, 1.5 cm by 3.5 cm in size, detects anti-SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in the interstitial fluid in a painless and convenient test, in under three minutes.

COVID-19 Antibodies From Eggs
Researchers at the University of California, Davis, have been able to produce antibodies to the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein in hen eggs. As a hen lays about 300 eggs a year, you can get a lot of IgY, Gallardo said. Gallardo and colleagues immunized hens with two doses of three different vaccines based on the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein or receptor binding domain. They measured antibodies in blood samples from the hens and in egg yolks three and six weeks after the last immunization.

New Blood-Free Antibody-Based Technique to Detect SARS-Cov-2
Researchers from Japan have now created a new, non-blood sample-based antibody-based technique for the quick and accurate identification of SARS-CoV-2. Researchers report a new, minimally invasive, antibody-based detection method for SARS-CoV-2 that could lead to the blood sample-free detection of many diseases. The worldwide response to the COVID-19 pandemic has been severely hindered by the inadequate identification of SARS-CoV-2-infected patients, and this issue has been made worse by the high proportion of asymptomatic infections.
